'Best of Japan on PC' line up bulks up an already strong 2018 for Sega

Dragons (of Dojima) in my PC? It's more likely than you think.

PC ports of Sega games and series that made their mark on consoles are hardly new, but the developer/publisher made an especially compelling reel for their upcoming Japanese-developed games for the platform. Simply titled, 'Best of Japan on PC', Sega announced that several acclaimed and upcoming games will be heading to PC. They include:

  • Yakuza 0
  • Yakuza Kiwami
  • Shenmue I and I
  • Shining Resonance Refrain
  • Valkyria Chronicles 4

Along with Vanquish, Bayonetta, the first Valkyria Chronicles, and several Genesis titles, Sega has already released a number of notable Japanese games on PC. Highlights from this next batch includes pre-order discounts, 4K enhancements to Yakuza 0, and simultaneous console and PC releases for Valkyria Chronicles 4 and Shining Resonance Refrain. Moreover, pre-orders of Yakuza 0 includes a digital manga, exclusive wallpapers, and fan-favorite avatars. It's not a bad deal when the pre-order of Yakuza 0 costs $17.99.

Given Sega's substantial presence on PC--much thanks to Creative Assembly strategy games--this is hardly surprising, not to mention that Shenmue III is slated for PC as well. It will be interesting to see if the response to Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami will lead to future PC versions of series installments like Yakuza Kiwami 2 or the recently announced remasters of Yakuzas 3 through 5.
